bio

I have been teaching at the Performing Arts Center in New Albany, MS for 14 years. Regina Cooke (my mother) and owner of the Performing Arts Center, started her business 35 years ago. We specialize in many different areas. We offer combination classes involving preschool gymnastics (floor, beam and mini bar), tap, clogging, jazz, cheer tecnique, tumbling for school age children and highschool students. We also have an instructor who teaches karate for chilldren and adluts.

Our 7,500 sq ft facility has a large lobby, 42' X 42' cheer floor, spring floor, Large Air Trak and Air Trak landing mat, as well as two large classrooms for dance instruction. Our program runs August through May and we have an annual Dance Review where students perform 1-2 dance numbers.

During the summer we offer gym and swim camps in conjunction with the Baptist Health Plex, owned and opperated by the Baptist Memorial Hopspital, and located directly behind our gym. Regina Cooke and Jala Ozbirn, both instructors of the Performing Arts Center, are certified to teach infants 6 months and children up to 6 years survival swimming skills through INFANT SWIMMING RESOURCE. To find out more about this program please visit our website at www.infantswim.com.

"I have seen major improvement in my older students after completion of the clinics, especially the spotting skills for the Standing Back Tuck and Standing Backhandspring. The only children that have not improved using the spotting technique are students who have not attended lessons regularly or students who "just don't want to change anything!"
